Early Life and Career
Colesberry was born on March 7, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He began his career in the entertainment industry as a producer, working on several independent films and television shows. He later transitioned into acting, appearing in supporting roles in films such as "The Color Purple" (1985) and "Malcolm X" (1992).
Co-Creator of "The Cosby Show"
Colesberry's most notable achievement came as a co-creator of the groundbreaking sitcom "The Cosby Show" (1984-1992). The show, which starred Bill Cosby, was a critical and commercial success, winning numerous awards and running for eight seasons. Colesberry's contributions as a writer and producer were instrumental in shaping the show's unique blend of humor and social commentary.
Later Career and Death
After "The Cosby Show" ended, Colesberry continued to work in both film and television. He produced the sitcom "Platinum" (2003-2004) and directed the film "Black Girl Lost" (2012). Colesberry passed away in Manhattan on February 22, 2004, at the age of 57, from complications following cardiac surgery.
