Canalys Report Highlights

According to Canalys' latest report, Latin America's smartphone market grew by 20% in the second quarter of 2024. Xiaomi was the primary driver of this growth, with a 35% increase in shipments. The company shipped 62 million smartphones in the region during the quarter, overtaking Motorola to become the second largest vendor.

Samsung remains the largest smartphone vendor in Latin America, with a market share of 25%. However, Xiaomi is closing the gap, and it is expected to challenge Samsung for the top spot in the future.

Other key findings from the Canalys report include:

  • Motorola shipped 57 million smartphones in Latin America during the second quarter of 2024, maintaining its third position.
  • Transsion, another Chinese smartphone maker, shipped 32 million smartphones in the region during the quarter, maintaining its fourth position.
  • Honor, another Chinese smartphone maker, shipped 12 million smartphones in the region during the quarter, maintaining its fifth position.
