ASU volleyball sweeps two, drops one in Nebraska Classic

Sun Devils fall to No. 15 Creighton, defeat Northern Iowa, UMKC

ASU (7-4) splits weekend at Nebraska Classic, prepares for home opener next week

Arizona State volleyball went 2-1 at the Nebraska Classic in Lincoln, Nebraska, over the weekend, sweeping Northern Iowa and UMKC before falling to No. 15 Creighton in four sets.

The Sun Devils (7-4) opened the tournament with a 3-0 sweep of Northern Iowa (25-18, 25-13, 25-16) on Friday. ASU hit .303 in the match and held UNI to a .056 hitting percentage.

Junior outside hitter Iman Isanovic led the Sun Devils with 12 kills, while senior middle blocker Claire Jeter had 11 kills and three blocks. Sophomore setter Ella Snyder had 34 assists and 10 digs.

ASU continued its strong play on Saturday with a 3-0 sweep of UMKC (25-15, 25-19, 25-14). The Sun Devils hit .323 in the match and held UMKC to a .065 hitting percentage.

Isanovic again led the Sun Devils with 12 kills, while Jeter had 10 kills and two blocks. Snyder had 29 assists and seven digs.

The Sun Devils' winning streak came to an end on Saturday night when they fell to No. 15 Creighton in four sets (25-21, 22-25, 25-18, 25-18).

ASU hit just .167 in the match, while Creighton hit .270. The Sun Devils also had 10 more errors than the Bluejays.

Isanovic led the Sun Devils with 15 kills, while Jeter had 13 kills and two blocks. Snyder had 38 assists and 13 digs.

The Sun Devils return to action on Tuesday when they host New Mexico State at 7 p.m. MST at Desert Financial Arena.
