Early Life and Activism

Janusz Palikot was born in 1964 in Bytom, Poland. From a young age, he exhibited a passion for social justice and activism. In the 1980s, he joined the Solidarity movement, a nonviolent resistance movement that played a significant role in the collapse of the communist regime in Poland.

After the fall of communism, Palikot continued his activism, advocating for LGBT rights, drug decriminalization, and other progressive causes. He co-founded the Polish Green Party in 2004 and served as its leader until 2013.

Political Career

In 2011, Palikot founded the Your Movement political party, which quickly gained popularity due to its anti-establishment stance and focus on social issues. The party won 40 seats in the Polish parliament in the 2011 election, making it the fourth-largest party in the country.

Later Career and Legacy

Palikot left the Your Movement in 2013 and founded a new party, the Movement of the Palikot People. The party failed to win any seats in the 2015 election, and Palikot subsequently retired from politics.
